Google Pixel 3 Production :HTC, LG, TCL, Coolpad ReportedlyApril 2, 2017, 5:40 am Even though Pixel smartphone`s successor is still months away from launch, several tech companies including HTC, LG , TCL, and Coolpad reportedly trying to fetch production contract for the phone`s 2018 version from Google. HTC, which currently holds the production contract for the Pixel smartphones, will run out of its contract after the second version of the smartphone, which will be released later this year. Even though several companies are trying to get the production contract, LG has been tipped to win the orders for production of the device currently being dubbed as Pixel 3, according to Chinese publication Commercial Times (via Digitimes). As per the report by Commercial Times, HTC has managed to ship over 2.1 million units of the 5-inch Pixel smartphone and its larger 5.5-inch Pixel XL phone to Google since their launch last year. The report adds that the orders for the Pixel 3 smartphone can reach 5 million units. Earlier this month, a report suggested that the codename for the upcoming Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 smartphones will be "Walleye" and "Muskie" respectively. As per the earlier leaks, the Pixel 2 is also tipped to come with an improved camera and processor. Further, the phone is expected to be water resistant as well, unlike its predecessor. Considering that the first Pixel smartphone got rave reviews for its performance but not so much for its hardware, it will be interesting to see if the search giant will stick with HTC or choose another manufacturer to produce future Pixel phones. |
