Huawei`s giant Ascend phablet is a great device, but its successor is long overdue. The Chinese company is expected to start rolling out the Ascend Mate 2 soon and leaked photos of the new device online only prove that it will probably arrive very soon.
The photos show a thinner device, but in general a quite similar in styling gadget to the current Ascend Mate. The new device has only a few aesthetic changes but it adopts a similar square form factor to Huawei`s first generation phablet.
According to the source of the leaked photos, the new phablet will come with
a 1.6GHz quad-core processor augmented by
2 gigs of RAM
and 16GB of internal storage. There is also a
13-megapixel rear camera
, and the phablet will run Android 4.2.2. with a layer of Huawei`s own
Emotion UI on top of that.
Interestingly, it seems that Huawei will stick with the same 6.1-inch 720p display for the new Ascend Mate 2 the older brother has, so for many this could proved to be quite a disappointment.
